Multiple Personality Piece (Identity Project/Brief)

My final piece was constructed out of wood and painted black. It was made big enough for a persons head to look inside upto their shoulders. I wanted to give the effect of multiple identities and by using the mirrors adjacent each other it would reflect infinitely, but distort the reflections of the same person slightly.

Assemblage

I have started playing around with Assemblage, which I have found a new passion for. I have really enjoyed finding bits of objects and creating a piece of art.

Above was an old frame of mine which I wanted slightly off-set the back and wind it together with string to bring it together. I think the end result is very effective. I am pleased.

Sticking matchsticks and nails into a cup changed he whole principle behind it being a cup, now its a cup that can not be drank out of.

I wanted to be a lose with this piece and not think too much about it. I nailed the plastic cut up bottles down and squirted paint randomly, then dripped hot wax in different parts. A Random piece, but I love it.

Project- Identity

I have started a new project based on Identity and I have gone wild researching and thinking up ideas. My starting point was with Ai WeiWeis` work on boxes and then I moved on to basing my idea on The Return to Oz film with the princess and the many heads she could change to finally settling on the idea of Multiple Personality Disorder. I came to this idea after researching Kim Noble, who has 20 personalities, 14 of them are artists. I want to represent how one persons identity can be split into several identities that all individual within the same person.....being fascinated by this I had to do a piece on it :o)
So here is my sketch book so far....

This is the first page of my sketch book a mind map of Identity.

Personal drawings that represent my own personality

Fine liner observational drawing of my face within a broken hand held mirror. I love the distorted effect the mirror gave on my face.

I decided to play about with my own face by taking photos of myself in different positions and then mixing them up into a collage piece to see what effect I could produce. ( inspired by David Hockney)

Mixed media with acrylic paints, photocopies of my face and black marker.

Playing with photography to see how water distorts the image of a face

Mirrored Box, part of my development process to decide how I wanted to display my final piece

Lake District Natural Sculptures

During a trip to the Lake District I wanted to get interactive within my environment by creating pieces of Art using the things I found around me. My inspiration comes from Andy Goldsworthys fantastic natural pieces he makes.

Wythenshawe Park Sculptures

I created a sculpture in Wythenshawe park using a metal frame work I found in the junk yard in the park. I wanted to create a "Cone of Plenty" shape and weave branches, grass and bits of woodland I found into it.

Above is one of the pictures I illustrated for a fanzine magazine called `The Zeen`, the link I have added is the full article with the both of the pictures I illustrated.

Busy Guitar

Acrylic Paints

With this piece I wanted to steer away from using one colour to define an object. I looked at the guitar and waited for the colours to jump out, colours that were hidden within the wood of the guitar. This is my representation of the colours I saw within it.
